3 Essential Tips to Kickstart Your Journey

Embarking on a fitness journey can be both exhilarating and daunting. The excitement of the new possibilities often comes hand-in-hand with questions and uncertainties. 

There’s a lot of noise out there on social media, in the office, in the news… what should you do? How do you get started? What’s the BEST thing to do?

Here are the 3 things that I usually start with when helping people embark on their fitness/nutrition journey. 

1. Define Your Why: Is it to improve your health, boost your confidence, or simply to challenge yourself? Is it so you can live a longer life with your kids? Is it to accomplish a task you never thought possible? Is it simply to improve your quality of life?  Defining your ‘why’ gives your journey purpose and keeps you focused when the going gets tough (and spoiler alert – it’s GOING to get tough. All worthwhile things do.)

2. Set SMART Goals: SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Your goals should be clear, quantifiable, realistic, aligned with your overall objectives, and have a deadline. For example, instead of saying, “I want to lose weight,” you could say, “I aim to lose 10 pounds in the next three to four months by exercising three times a week and following my nutrition plan from Yellow Rose.” Setting SMART goals provides you with a roadmap and a sense of accomplishment as you achieve milestones. 3. Embrace Consistency Over Perfection: If you’ve ever been around me, you’ve heard me say “consistency is king.” It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of perfection, but progress is progress, no matter how small. Consistency is key. Make small, sustainable changes in your lifestyle rather than opting for drastic, short-term solutions. Whether it’s choosing healthier meal options, committing to regular workouts, or getting adequate sleep, these consistent efforts, no matter how minor, compound over time, leading to significant transformations.

Remember, your fitness journey is unique to you. Celebrate your victories, no matter how small they seem, and don’t be discouraged by setbacks. Every step, no matter how tiny, is a step toward your goals.

So, there you have it – three tips to empower and kickstart your fitness journey. Remember your ‘why’, set SMART goals, and embrace consistency. With these guiding principles, you’re not just starting a fitness journey; you’re embarking on a life-changing adventure toward a healthier, happier you.
