If you’ve been in the Yellow Rose Members Only Facebook group on a Friday, you’ve probably seen people posting about Bright Spot Fridays.
This is a practice that we started a few years ago, but we’ve been very consistent with it over the past year. The goal of it is pretty simple: each Friday, post a bright spot in your life.
It’s a gratitude practice. It’s a reminder of all things that are good in your life. It’s a reminder that even though there might be some weeds in your garden of life, you still have beautiful flowers that you can water and watch them grow.
And it just feels good and makes you happy to practice some gratitude in a genuine way with your community of support.
So what *is* a bright spot? What qualifies?
ANYTHING that you want to be grateful for.
For example, I start 99% of my bright spot Fridays with a, “All my girls are happy and healthy!” because I am always so grateful for health and happiness in my family.
But it could be a myriad of other things.
- Fitness PR
- A roof over your head
- Weight loss goals met
- A delicious meal
- Workout attendance achieved
- New job
- Celebrating kids
- A vacation you’re excited about
- A new practice you’re starting that’s going to help advance your happy
I mean, it truly can be anything.
So on this Friday, I urge you to do the following.
- Get out a piece of paper (or notes app on your phone)
- Write down 2-3 things that you’re grateful for, no matter how big or small it might seem to you
- Post the paper on your fridge, or screenshot the notes app and send it to a friend.
Put your gratitude out there for the world to see, and you will be rewarded in time.
Make this a practice each and every Friday, and you’ll be amazed at how much brighter your life can be.
See you all shining very bright, very soon at the gym!
