—The PERFECT Time of Day to Workout—
We get this question all the time…
“When is the perfect time of day to workout? I want to *insert goal here.* What time of day is best for that?”
There’s a lot of information out there in the vast world of the internet. You can find studies that suggest working out in the morning is the best. You can find studies that suggest working out at lunch time or right before dinner is best.
So what’s the answer? When is the PERFECT time of day to workout?
The perfect time of day to workout is the one that works BEST for YOU. There are a few factors that we would look at here…
1) Can you be consistent with this time?
2) Does working out at this time make you feel good?
(For the record, we’ve never heard of anyone regretting a workout. Question number 1 is the most important.)
If you look at these questions and compare them to the time available for you to workout, you need to make sure that you can answer YES to these. In some circumstances, you might have to make a change to accommodate your fitness.
For example: You probably don’t ENJOY waking up at 4:30AM for a 5AM class… but if you can be consistent at the 5AM and it makes you feel good for the rest of the day, maybe it IS the perfect time of day for you.
Or maybe you don’t particularly enjoy getting into work an hour earlier… but if it means you can leave an hour earlier to get to the 6:30PM class, maybe it’s the perfect time of day for you.
Consistency is key with our workouts. Figure out a way to be consistent, even if it means you have to make a change.
So when’s the perfect time of day to workout?
Whatever time of day you can workout consistently.
