How To Handle The Game

*How to Handle Game Time and Still Hit Your Goals*

It’s no secret you’re going to be watching some baseball on Friday and Saturday… but that doesn’t mean we have to get all crazy and erase the progress that we’ve made this week (unless that’s worth it to you, which is totally cool! If I wasn’t running a 10K on Sunday, I’d probably erase some progress as well!).

For those that are on a weight loss journey, or for those that are simply wanting to step on the scale Monday and have things be “normal” … here’s how we handle a game or event. Make sure you save this for future events as a reminder!

*IF YOU’RE WATCHING AT THE STADIUM*

Honestly? Just enjoy it. Buy the $20 beer. Have the stadium food. Soak up the energy. Have so much fun! This could be a once in a lifetime experience!

However… if you are going in person and really do want to keep a handle on it…

  • Save some calories throughout the day. Eat a small breakfast and a smaller lunch.
  • Eat a good meal RIGHT before you leave. If you’re not hungry when you get there, you won’t be tempted to eat allllll the ballpark snacks.
  • If you DO need to eat the snacks – find a lean protein option. There are plenty of places where you can actually get a lean cut of meat, or some sort of grilled chicken sandwich!
  • Take it easy on the booze. Nobody has ever gotten drunk and eaten chicken and broccoli.
  • Keep drinking water. Staying hydrated will help you stave off any hunger temptations.

*IF YOU’RE WATCHING AT HOME OR WITH FRIENDS*

  • The basic tips from above still apply for this situation too!
  • Eat before the game starts.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Keep the snacks lean.
  • Keep the booze to a minimum.
  • Have a non-alcoholic option that you can go to!
  • One of the best mental shifts you can do is simply treat it like a regular Monday night, and not a world series Friday night. Do what you would normally do… you just happen to be watching some baseball as well 🙂

Let’s keep making progress, and let’s beat some Philly keister this weekend.
