Why Strength Training Helps Parents Keep Up With Kids This Fall
Ahhhh, did you feel that this morning? DID YOU GET EXCITED THIS MORNING?
It was 68 degrees outside… and you know what that means…
… it means it’ll still probably be 90 degrees next week, but we’re at the tail end of summer and THAT much closer to fall and cooler temperatures! WE MADE IT, Y’ALL!
Fall in Houston means cooler weather, family outings, and lots of time outdoors. And if you’re a parent like me, it means chasing kids at weekend practices, juggling the never ending amount of birthday parties, or joining them for shenanigans at one of the awesome parks we have in Oak Forest.
I know the holidays is “the most wonderful time of the year” … but a close second is Houston when that oppressive summer heat breaks for the first time!
Let’s cut to the chase. Strength training isn’t just about lifting weights — it’s about giving you the energy, mobility, and resilience to keep up with your family (and actually enjoy it).

Cooler weather makes it easier to be outside, but it also means more activity demands. Parents find themselves running around more, not less. Strength training ensures your body is ready to keep up. With the beautiful weather we’re going to have from October to December, it’s important we feel our best so we can actually enjoy it!
Keep an open mind with your exercise as well. If you are feeling like it’s a bit too much or adding more to your plate right now seems unreasonable… just remember that more activity is good activity. Get out for walks. Go for easy jogs. Do 50 squats today. Just do something. It’s always worth it.

At Yellow Rose Fitness, our On Ramp Program introduces you to strength training safely and effectively. We like to think of our gym like a freeway of fitness… there are certain lanes for certain speeds, but they’ll all get you where you want to go! Whether you’re brand-new or just getting back into it, we’ll help you build strength for the season of busy family schedules.
And the best part? You’re going to fit in with everyone else here at the gym. Yellow Rose is an Oak Forest/Garden Oaks community of busy moms and dads who are all trying to feel their best. Having a community of people just like you makes something difficult (like getting into, or back into fitness) all the easier. You’ll probably even see one of your neighbors here while you’re getting stronger!
If you’re interested in getting stronger with us, increasing your energy, improving your mobility, and simply feeling your best… click here so we can get started ASAP.
You deserve it! After all, don’t you want your Happy to be Advanced? I know I do.
I’ll see you on the trails, or more than likely, at the park with my kids!
