I wrote this in an email one time, but I want it to live permanently on the Yellow Rose blog. I think it’s important.
I wrote it for me, but I want you to read it too.
It’s really easy to fight change and cling onto our old ideals and our old self. I mean, it’s comfortable. It’s what we’ve always done. It’s how we’ve always operated. It’s… us.
Not only is it easy to fight, but it’s even easier to ruthlessly resist it and go so far as to convince yourself that you don’t actually need to change. You can convince yourself you’re doing everything right. Maybe all of these confusing emotions, frustrations, and negative experiences are just a funk. After all, you’ve gotten this far, right?
But maybe, juuuuuuust maybe, the old ideals that you held and the old self you used to be aren’t serving you anymore.
Your old habits.
Your old decision making.
Your old ways you navigate life…
It’s not working anymore.
Maybe instead of digging in and resisting change, you let that old self go, and open your mind to what this new sense of self can truly be.
So make a change.
Thank the old self for what it has done for you, for what it has helped you with, and for all of the memories. Let the old self go completely, and eagerly embrace what this new self will be.
And the best part about the new self? You get to decide what it is!
So thank you, former Clark. You did a great job with so many things, but we’re moving in another direction. Nothing but grace and love for you, but our time together has ended. New Clark will be taking over your position, effective immediately.
I know it’s scary to change. Believe me, I’m going through serious changes right now.
But I’m way more scared of staying the same forever.
If you need someone to chat with, you can always book a call with me. I’m happy to help, or just listen. Whatever is best for you.
See you at the gym 🫶
-Clark
